“ Beniamino Forestiere is a shrewd, modern and creative man. In his class of percussion at the Conservatory in Bari student learn Beethoven and Strawinsky, but also contemporary music, jazz, improvisation, ethnic and popular traditions. I have noticed that the approach to music of these early percussionists is always careful and accurate, that they don't disdain the pleasure to discover something new and that they are able to adept their skill to the musical context in which they operate. If the student is the mirror of the teacher it is also true that a didactic book mirrors the author's experience of teaching, composition and execution. In this mighty volume you will find sillogistically reflected the above chatacteristics: extreme accuracy in the analysis of the gesture, use and application of the most varied techniques (from the four mallets to the swing, from the decomposition to the polyrhythn, from the improvisation to the rudiments), scientific close examination of the problems connected to the dynamics, that is to the expressive control of the volume. The title condenses the last goal of the author: to realize, as himself states, a union between technical perfection and mastery in the use of the dynamics. On trying to realize this union Mr. Forestiere arranges his exercises and studies on varied percussion instruments sets from the simple snare-drum to the traditional drum set, to the most largest contemporary ensemble, where the standing performer is surrounded by the instruments. The methodological planning out makes this text nearer to the modern student who attends Conservatory, considering thr refinement of certain rhythmic solutions and the necessity to study in a detailed way the transcribed scores. I would like to recommend it to also to those who haven't an academic preparation so advanced for instance think the drummer that has not studied classical percussion. He/she will be able to adept to his/her needs the essential didactic message of the book, exemplifield by hundreds of exercises; that is how to train the gesture of striking to the distribution of the weight between the limbs, so to direct the technique to the expressiveness of the touch and the perfection of the rhythmic stressing. In our library, this volume can ideally find a place, among Goldenberg's classical method, Stone's exercises, Boulez's score and certain pages by Dante Agostini: the whole mixed by taste, measure and competence of the author"”. Ettore Fioravanti, drummer, percussionist, composer and arranger, teacher of Jazz Music – from:"Percussions" – July 1991
“…In the first part of the penultimate concert of "Musica giovani" festival the audience saw on the platform Giorgio Leardini, who directed Mozart and Weber in a fervent and aggressive way. Besides he showed great accuracy in the accompaniment of the good percussionist Beniamino Forestiere, an excellent interpreter of the colored and fascinating page that is the Concert for drums and orchestra by Darius Milhaud.” N. “...In a concert with the symphonic orchestra of Bari which has not been forgotten, Mr. Forestiere had already given a positive anticipation of his creative possibilities and this pleasant performance has confirmed that we are on the road for further, perhaps also unpredictable, developments. The auditorium was full of people, who were interested and satisfied by the result of the evening, perhaps also because a little off of the beaten track” N. “ Beniamino Forestiere is a musician that has followed a real artistic route by deeply living it and so realizing his projects in a perfect accordance with the techniques and the artistic expressions. In his artistic gesture, he unites the art of the percussion with the musical aesthetics. Such a union is synonymous of a determined moral sense that upsets any immediate taste.” Luigi Morleo – soloist – Regular teacher of percussion instruments at the N. Piccinni Conservatory in Bari – composer and creator of didactic works . URL:space.tin.it/clubnet/lumorle
